Battle Hymn
CODE OF CONDUCT
Battle Hymn is an intentionally queer space but all are welcome.
While our door policy is open to everyone, we are not here for your bachelorette parties. Please be mindful of how you take up space. This means a lot of things - literally & figuratively - the obvious is please don’t be pushy on the dancefloor and always be aware of others dancing beside you.
The not-so-obvious is making space for people that might not be as comfortable in the club or existing in the world as you are. Show some grace. Practice kindness. Battle Hymn is for everyone to co-exist. Make room for your non-binary & trans family. The femmes, queens and dolls have always played a vital role of queer nightlife herstory - respect them.
This should be obvious but stating here so it’s very clear:
We DO NOT tolerate any behaviour that makes anyone feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
Any racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia or body shaming is grounds for removal.
Any threatening language, harassment or violence is strictly prohibited and you will be asked to leave.
If anyone is making you feel unsafe in any way- please ask any staff member for help.
If you see something- say something- help your fellow dancer if you think they need it.
We have a trusted house photographer and do not allow outside photography. If you ever don’t like a photo we post of you, DM us to take it down. Having the photos is important to us. We hope that in the future we’ll all have something beautiful to look back on and say “we were there!”
The dance floor is for DANCING! Please do not text / make calls / take photos on the dancefloor. Step off to the sides - or better yet: we have an entire courtyard for taking selfies & swapping phone numbers.
We have a coatcheck...
Please DO NOT leave coats in the DJ booth, banquettes or corners!
We do not have a strict dress code but we encourage putting a little effort into your lewk. Wearing flip-flops in the club is a hazardous move for your toes and other people’s eyes.
And sometimes leaving your shirt on is just a little bit sexier!
DO NOT leave drinks unattended or cellphones in back pockets. If you lost your phone or found someone else’s phone in the club please bring it to or come find it at the front where you checked in.
Battle Hymn Brooklyn has bars inside and outside as well as food stalls outside in the courtyard. Drink, eat, hydrate and rest outside- we have plenty of seating out there for you to chill when needed.
There are NARCAN kits at every bar.
We always have a medical team onsite.
If you or one of your friends feel ill or need a place to hydrate and rest, please ask one of the medics in red shirts or ask a staff member to help you get one. Listen to your body, not Gina.
Battle Hymn is wheelchair accessible. We want everyone to have a great experience. Please reach out to us with any questions.
BATTLE HYMN IS YOURS.
TAKE CARE OF IT.
TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER.
SPREAD JOY.
KEEP DANCING!
